Warning: Whirlpool *admits* this model is loud

Warning: Whirlpool admits this refrigerator is “exceptionally loud” My second review is here to warn potential buyers—I’d reviewed it last week (see “It’s one super magnet holder—but a lousy fridge”). The “Social Care” team read my original review and responded below my review that they would like to “look into the concerns” with my refrigerator, advising me to contact them (you’ll see similar comments below troublesome reviews if you scroll down). I contacted the “Social Care” team and gave my serial number, model number, the issue and my contact information. When I received a phone call back, she looked up my case and proceeded to tell me that this particular refrigerator is acknowledged by Whirlpool as being noisy when the compressor is running. And there is nothing to do about it. She said “all” of the new refrigerators are loud. I explained that ours was not just loud, but so noticeably loud that we have to keep our bedroom door closed so the refrigerator’s metallic whine is dulled. I asked specifically, “So exceptionally loud noise is common for this model?” She answered, “Yes.” Hmmm…might my particular unit be *more* noisy than what they say is “normal”? No way to find out unless I pay a $100+ service call, even though this issue has been brought up with this particular refrigerator since it was first purchased. Is ours a lemon, perhaps? That wasn’t a possibility that the Social Care team member Whirlpool could consider. So there’s your warning; you might be a lucky soul and get one of these that is quiet (look at the reviews here) or you might get one like ours, that is “exceptionally loud.” I hope you’re lucky. We were not. [NOTE: For storage efficiency, this is a *great* refrigerator—shelves are well-used, lots of room in the freezer. If you don’t get a bad unit, as we did, you’ll likely really appreciate this model. Again, keep your fingers crossed. And don’t count on support from Whirlpool if yours is exceedingly loud—Whirlpool service won’t stand up for you because they are “all” that way!]

I bought this one from Lowes back 09/2016 in the second year after the warranty expires the freezer started to crack and one year later started the second cracked. The refrigerator I have set on manufacturing recommended and started freezes the food and I have to through it away. I don’t recommend anyone to buy this refrigerator at all. Then I spoke with their customer service and said we can repair it and you pay out of pocket, because it’s not cover by manufacturing and only one year warranty. Don’t waste your money on this refrigerator.

Fits my needs

Nice refrigerator. Fits in my space beautifully. The inside capacity is more than adequate. I am so happy I went with the “smudge proof “ version. Very happy, stays neat and clean. The only thing I didn’t think of was a light in the freezer. I wish I would of not assumed there was one already there. Oh well! If I turn on the kitchen light before I open the freezer door this will take care of the problem. I love my new refrigerator

good across the board, including customer service

like the look and flexibility of the interior. had to have the direction of the door swing changed on original unit, but they didn't fit quite right. we got an entire replacement unit with no trouble. we are very happy with the current unit.

Refrigerator delivered on 9/27/2019. One week later, 10/5, I noticed a large puddle on top shelf and water had dripped down back of fridge and also into deli bin. Ice had formed. Called Home Depot - they told me Whirlpool was sending someone from customer care on 10/7. They sent a technician. Technician said bad thermostat. Do I want it repaired or a new fridge. Told him no repair, want new. Called Home Depot again. They said can do nothing, and I must talk with Whirlpool. Whirlpool refuses to send me a new fridge - will only do a repair. Evidently, I should have noticed this leak within 48 hours. Horrible policy. Not such a good product. My last refrigrator - same model though made much better with split shelves - sturdier ~ lasted 23 years or so. Shame on Whirlpool for making an inferior product. Shame on Whirlpool for their lousy customer service. Read all the reviews before buying.
