LG Compressors are Junk

Awful. Have had to get compressor fixed within 4 years of owning it and 5 months later it is broken again.

Unit was purchased 2 1/2 years ago from Home Depot. Condenser failed and all of the food in the freezer defrosted and spoiled. Much of the food in the refrigerator also spoiled. LG agreed to replace the failed condenser under the extended 10 year warranty but refused to cover any loss due to food spoilage. Their stated policy is that if the repair is made within 4 days of the initial call for service there is no reimbursement. The initial call was made after we discovered that the freezer had totally defrosted so this policy seems totally ridiculous.

We bought this refrigerator just under 4 years ago and love it. The long drawer is great for cheeses cold cuts butter...The door-in-door concept helps organize and keep condiments cold. And we love where the ice maker is. However the condenser failed before the unit was 4 years old. It took more than 2 weeks to get someone to come out and work on it. The repaired unit worked less than 24 hours. The repair company had to order another compressor evaporator and coils. It took more than a week for the parts to be delivered and someone to come out to repair it. It worked 48 hours and the fan failed. Although all labor and parts were covered under warranty we were without a refrigerator/freezer for over a month. We requested a rental unit or a dorm size refrigerator but the request was denied. The refrigerator design is terrific but the process for under warranty repairs is not good.
