Dryer Lint Screen Cover Incompatible w/Lint Filter

I had to return the Dryer Lint Screen Cover MCK49049101. I bought it and a new Dryer Lint Filter ADQ56656401 at the same time. Apparently there has been a design change because the new filter would not fit completely into the new Lint Screen Cover. It protruded about 1/4 making it unusable because clothes could snag on it. Therefore I reinstalled the original Lint Screen Cover into which the new Lint Filter fits snugly with no protrusions.

Didnt fit even when this is the recommended one

I bought this lint cover since this is the recommended one for my model. For one it didnt fit as Andrew Be saysits a new design. Therefore the lint filter is much longer. Emcompass sold this cover for twice the price despite me sending them pics of this price here Needless to say this is the second time this has been replaced. It was replaced 2 years after buying the dryer and approximately 5 years after it started happening again. I just dealt with it but putting some masking tape where broken each time it was used. I decided to try to find the part and ordered this one. Long story short Im pretty handy and after carefully studying the situation and competing with the old one. I was able to modify and create the grooves for the lint filter to fit.. Encompass were not very helpful

I came here to replace a filter cover. Mine had cracked and was snagging/ruining our towels and my wifes sweaters among other clothing items. She was not happy I needed to fix this situation ASAP Thanks to AndrewBEs review below and to prevent any further grief from my wife I purchased the assembly with both the lint filter cover and the lint filter screen 383EEL3002Q even though the price was more than purchasing both parts separately. I did NOT want the hassle of the new filter cover not matching up with my old good lint filter. Bingo The new parts fit my dryer exactly. Well good thing I purchased the combined part because my old lint filter screen would NOT have fit into the new lint filter cover. Thanks AndrewBE I owe you a beer for your research which helped me out When I removed the broken filter cover I definitely had to vacuum out the lint that had accumulated below it that normally could not be easily seen.

After installing this into my dryer my existing lint filter would no longer fit. After spending quite awhile on the phone with various people someone mentioned a service bulletin which I was able to find online https://encompass.com/shop/part_docs/?file=/ZEN/7799885.pdf. If the link got stripped search for service bulletin DFZ202100029-02. It turns out this part has been redesigned and the old lint filter does not fit. The picture of the lint cover on this page shows the OLD version which has cutouts for the tabs at the top of the lint filter. The lint filter cover that I got is the NEW version which does NOT have the cutouts. If your lint filter has little ears at the top part number ADQ566564 or ADQ56656401 then it will NOT fit in this lint cover. If your filter does not have these ears part number ADQ56656403 then you should be good to go. The frustrating thing about this is that there is no mention on this page that says anything about the redesign or that you will most likely need to buy a new lint filter.

I bought the part because the original one was damaged and ruining clothes. When I installed it my original lint filter didnt fit. There was no other part to buy or I wouldve glbought the correct one instead
