we have previously had problems with our barely three year old samsung refrigerator. i was able to fix that with replacement parts. now the temp sensor has gone bad on this oven. the refrigerator had problems just past year one. year three on the oven. additionally, the burners heat very unevenly. the buttons are very sensitive, setting the oven temp seems needlessly difficult. our samsung dishwasher seems to be okay so far and our washing machine works well.

replaced the cooktop glass twice because of a thermal stress crack. both times, the bottom right burner glass failed in the same pattern.

I have had my stove for a little over a year and I found my flat top cracked. Trying to find a replacement part has been a nightmare. After talking to Sears we were informed that this is a common problem with this flat top. It was also hard to keep clean. Everything seemed to stick to the glass top even when using special cleaners. So now we have to buy a new stove. The stove worked amazing. Loved all the features. Now I am stuck with a broken flat top.

Poor stove layout

[Long] The stove is working as intended and was well described. It's really light so using the included anti-tip bracket is necessary just to keep it from sliding around when you push the really stiff buttons. The entire display bends inward with each push of the various embedded buttons. The display controls are cumbersome such as setting the temperature or timer where each push only goes up either 5 degrees or 1 minute respectively, unless you push and hold where it races to the top in just a second or two so is impossible to get where you want without doing it push by push. Also needs a display brightness control so you can dim it at night - too bright! The stainless steel and enameled surfaces are like any other similar surfaces and will clean up as such. I use the pop-up stainless steel wipes and it looks brand new every time. The glass cooking surface is another story. Like other customers, my surface was stained within the first week of use and I'm completely OCD about a clean kitchen so I always clean immediately when done cooking. The one bad spot looks like its on the inside so I don't know how I could have cleaned that before it etched itself into the glass. So far, I haven't found any scratches on the surface and I use a variety of pans - cast iron, aluminum, copper and my good old 30 year-old set of stainless RevereWare. It takes a few minutes each and every time the stovetop is used but it basically looks fine when I'm done. My process is a good spray with dedicated glass stovetop cleaner and a nylon scrubber to loosen everything up and wipe with clean, dry soft cloth. Then I apply the dedicated glass stovetop paste cleaner with very slightly wet paper towels like I'm waxing a car, concentrating on any stains that may be left after the first clean. That dries to a haze and I finish up with another clean dry soft towel and wisk away any remaining dried paste flecks. A lot of work just to use the stove - so much that I often opt for other foods/preparation methods now because it's just too much sometimes. The worst part of the range is the layout of the back burners in relation to the back wall of the cooking area and proximity of the burner control knobs. The two small back burners which are the only ones all my small to medium pots will fit on as the instructions say to avoid letting the burner 'overlap' the diameter of the pot or pan. Therein lies the problem. the burner control knobs are only a few inches above the cooking surface so all but the smallest pots or pans are too close to the knobs and you risk steam or grease burns when you reach for the knobs (see pics). I could also see potential for damage to the plastic knobs if dish was left simmering for too long on the back burners. The constant on/off cycling of the burners is annoying and makes it hard to get a slow boil in a timely manner. The oven is adequate and has performed as expected. My only complaint is that the wire racks' gaps are spaced too far apart and I've had items fall through. A cooking screen solved that. The steam clean function is ok but doesn't tough any dripped and baked on stuff that isn't in direct contact with the standing water. But afterwards, a quick wipe down and it comes mostly clean. Overall, the value is acceptable as I didn't pay a whole lot more than a nice used stove from the repair place so I accept that this is basically a 5 year or less investment and will learn from it and be better prepared the next time around. In the meantime, I would have preferred a little better experience from my first brand new stove but if I keep it clean and the electronics hold up, it should basically work for what I need.
